Rockpool exits Blume to Sun Capital for 4.4x

Rockpool has agreed to exit its investment in Blume, a leading customer acquisition specialist for the legal sector, generating a return of 4.4x to Rockpool equity investors.

Following Rockpool’s exit, Sun Capital will take a majority stake in the company, supporting the management team to accelerate growth organically and via further strategic acquisitions.

Rockpool backed Blume’s CEO & Founder, Dez Derry, in February 2022. Blume has grown substantially since the investment both organically and via the acquisition of customer acquisition specialist, Online Legal, in September 2022.

Profitability has more than tripled over this time period and Blume has made multiple new senior hires to continue its impressive growth trajectory.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory approval.

Rockpool’s investment in Blume was led by Guy Ellis and Simon Collins. This is their second successful exit in as many months following the announcement to exit Boston MFO to Horizon Capital.

“Blume is a fantastic example of how a business with strong leadership and advanced technology can grow exponentially, both organically and via acquisition. Working with Dez and the Blume team has been a fantastic experience for us and we wish them all the best on the next stage of their journey with Sun Capital.”

Guy Ellis, Partner at Rockpool Investments

“Rockpool have been excellent supportive partners for Blume, bringing a growth mindset to the board and helping support us through a period of rapid expansion. Guy and Simon have been a pleasure to work with. For our next stage of growth we are thrilled to be partnering with Sun Capital who share our vision, ambition and appetite for innovation.”
